Two women identified after high speed chase
UPDATE:The two women arrested in the high speed chase were Melinda Vandeventer, 20; and Chasten Jordan, 33.
Vandeventer was the driver and was arrested with tamperingmotor vehicle 1st degree, resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating a motor vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner, and displaying plates of another. Her total bond is $10,145.00.
Jordan was arrested withTampering with a motor vehicle 2nd degree, possession of drug paraphernalia, and 3 warrants for failing to appear in court on other charges. Her total bond is $16,000.00.
Boone County Sheriff’s Deputies tell ABC 17 News they have two people in custody after chasing a car reported stolen.
According to a Sergeant on scene, law enforcement received an anonymous tip there was someone with warrants driving this car. At that time, the sergeant says the car had not yet been reported stolen. Deputies spotted the car matching the description from the tipper Sunday morning. When they attempted to stop the car, the driver took off.
The chase started near the City of Columbia and Boone County line around 5:45 a.m. The car reportedly reaching speeds up to 100 miles per hour.
The driver lead deputies eastbound on Highway WW towards Callaway County. At one point deputies reportedly authorized the use of spike strips to stop the car.
The chase ended after the car went into a ditch near Highway WW and Highway 259. That part of the road has an “S curve” with road signs advising to the curves. Deputies told ABC 17 News the driver was going too fast to make the turn and ran off the road. ABC 17 News crews say the red Pontiac has front end damage. Crews on scene also saw damage to nearby road signs.
Deputies confirm there were two female occupants. According to the sergeant on scene, the passenger outstanding warrants. The sergeant said the driver will likely face charges of tampering in the first degree for driving the stolen vehicle.
The stolen vehicle is registered out of Columbia.
There were no injuries.
