Firefighters battle house fire near Hallsville
Boone County firefighters have cleared the scene of a house fire north of Hallsville, with damage extensive enough to force the owner to find somewhere else to stay for now. The Red Cross has now responded, providing a hotel room for two nights.
The first call was made shortly after 3:30 p.m. Monday, at which time 15 units responded to the scene. The home is in the 16000 block of Highway U, just north of Edgeview Drive.
According to firefighters, the fire started in the basement and moved its way up. There are no reports of any injuries at this point. No cause has been determined.
