Police identify man arrested after argument in Northeast Columbia ends in gunfire
UPDATE 5/13: Columbia police identified the man Friday who was arrested in connection to a shooting in Northeast Columbia Thursday.
Police say they arrested Kirk Powell just before 1:00 Thursday afternoon after responding to the 2600 block of Quail Drive for reports of a shooting.
Police say witnesses saw Powellfire one shot in the air. Powell was arrested on suspicion of felonyunlawful use of a weapon with a bond of $4,500.
ORIGINAL STORY: Columbia Police take one male suspect into custody after a argument in Northeast Columbia ends in gunfire.
Columbia Police confirmed to ABC 17 that one shot was fired near the area of the 2600 block of Quail Drive, no shell casings were found neither was a weapon.
ABC 17 News sent crews to the area just before 1 p.m.
Sgt. Harlan Hatton confirmed that the suspect does live somewhere on Quail Drive.
Police say residents in the area weren’t talking to police. Sgt. Hatton told ABC 17 that “we’re basically getting almost no cooperation… we are trying to solve a problem we’ve had here before.”
Sgt. Hatton said that problem is multiple shots fired calls that happen on Quail Drive.
About 10 patrol cars were on scene, where investigators were talking to witnesses.
No additional information was given about the suspect.
