Update: Driver remains in critical condition after Hwy 54 crash near Jefferson City

UPDATE 5/12: ABC 17 News checked with University Hospital Thursday morning. Hospital officials said Murray remained in critical condition Thursday.

ORIGINAL STORY: The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating a crash Wednesday afternoon on Highway 54 near Monticello Road, just southwest of Jefferson City. Troopers were first alerted around 12:30 p.m. They told ABC 17 a car was crossing Highway 54 westbound while trying to turn at Monticello Road.

A portion of Highway 54 was closed for about 30 minutes.

The patrol believes Latonya Murray, 42, pulled into the path of two cars while turning. Murray was flown to University Hospital, where she remained in critical condition Wednesday evening. A passenger in Murray’s car went to Columbia in an ambulance, where she was in fair condition. A second driver also had moderate injuries.
