Jefferson City police announce arrival of new K9

A new K9 dog has arrived in Jefferson City to help police with drug and suspect searches.

Chopper, a German Shepherd, will work with Officer Jeremy Bowman on assignment with the Community Action Team. The pair will also work alongside Officer Paul Gash and his K9 partner Buzz. In addition to their regular duties, both teams will be available for demonstrations for organizations and schools.

Chopper comes from Slovakia, and was trained at a facility in Cape Girardeau. He and Bowman recently finished a nine-week certification course, allowing Chopper to help in detecting narcotics, tracking, and apprehension.
