Updated Severe Threat Outlook Puts All of Mid-Missouri Under Slight Risk Monday
Today, the Storm Prediction Center upgraded Mid-Missouri from the “Marginal” to “Slight Risk” category for the threat of severe weather expected on Monday afternoon.
Isolated showers and thunderstorms will be possible throughout the morning and early afternoon hours of Monday. However, as atmospheric instability increases throughout the day, the strongest likelihood for strong to severe thunderstorms will occur in the late afternoon and evening hours of Monday. The clusters of thunderstorms expected to develop could produce large hail and winds stronger than 60 mph. With the right ingredients in place, an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out either
The threat for strong thunderstorms will taper off late Monday night into Tuesday morning.
