Gov. Nixon signs lobbyist ban
Gov. Jay Nixon signed new lobbyist restrictions into law Friday .
He approved a six-month waiting period before elected officials can become lobbyists. Officials also have to give back or donate their campaign cash when that happens.
Lobbyists have already been banned from working as political consultants while in office, but state lawmakers can still accept unlimited donations or gifts.
This year’s latest ethics reform came after two high-profile resignations last session for improper conduct with interns.That included the former Speaker of the Missouri House.
