Man accused of punching officer in the face during arrest

A Jefferson City police officer is back on duty after getting punched in the face while making an arrest Friday morning.

Shortly before 9 a.m., the officer was on East Miller Street and saw a man recognized as having several warrants for his arrest. The officer stopped and talked to the man, Aaron Mosley, during which Mosley apparently gave an alias. At one point, Mosley and officer got into a struggle, with Mosley allegedly punching the officer in the face before running away. He was caught a couple of blocks away by the officer and others called in to help.

The officer got some cuts on the face and mouth. Mosley was arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest and assault on a law enforcement officer, as well as for the active warrants.
