Centralia police make several arrests in drug round-up
Centralia police have arrested 10 people in a meth-related drug bust.
Six people were arrested in the Centralia area, and four were arrested in Audrain County.
It originally started before 8:00 a.m. Thursday morning in Sturgeon and wrapped up around 5:00 p.m.
According to Centralia police it was an undercover investigation that took about 10-12 days. During their undercover investigation they made contact with nine people, and bought the drug eleven times.
39403880Police told ABC 17 that most of the busts were done at homes but some were done near school areas. Sergeant Joe Bellamy said it’s almost impossible to not be in a school near Centralia because it’s such a small town.
Sgt. Bellamy said that meth will spread quickly, especially toward warmer weather months because it gives more opportunity for people to get out and deal.
Cpl. Tim Kribbs told ABC 17 that drug sweeps usually cost the department a lot of money and resources, and especially with a smaller department they feel the impact faster.
The sergeant overseeing the case told ABC 17 News that typically in the summertime or warmer months, it’s more common for people to buy and sell these kind of drugs.
Chief L.A Dudgeon said that all the people arrested will be held in either Boone County Jail or Audrain County Jail. Some people have no bond and some have bonds ranging from 25 thousand cash only to 40 thousand cash only.
