Sentencing delayed for Columbia robber

UPDATE: Anthony Paine is expected to be sentenced Monday, May 2.

In November, Paine was found guilty of robbing Kaldi’s Coffee. His sentencing was delayed in February after his lawyer asked for a mental evaluation of Paine.

Original Story: A man convicted of a Columbia robbery will have to wait until at least March to learn his sentence.

A jury found Anthony Paine guilty of robbing Kaldi’s Coffee last November.

Paine’s lawyer, Matt Mueller, asked for more time to do a mental evaluation of Paine before his sentencing.

Surveillance video from Kaldi’s showed Paine approaching the manager before the store opened.

While the manager testified in November that he had a gun, Mueller argued the footage never showed him with one.
