Missouri law enforcement cracking down on youth alcohol consumption

Prom and graduation season is here and the Missouri law enforcement want to make sure the Missouri youth are celebrating safe and sober.

Come May 5th – 16th, 2016, the Jefferson City Police Department will join other Missouri law enforcement agencies assertively seeking out impaired drivers and minors in possession of alcohol.

Missouri has a Zero Tolerance Law; if you are under the age of 21 and you’re caught driving with even a trace of alcohol in your system, your license can be suspended.

During the Youth Alcohol Enforcement Campaign May 1st – 12th, 2015, four people were killed and eighteen were seriously injured involving at least one substance impaired driver that was under 21 years of age.

Sgt. Doug Ruediger, Traffic Unit Supervisor, stated “Driving while intoxicated is not acceptable and it is never worth all the consequences. Don’t become a statistic.”
