Man found near Hinkson Creek died from hypothermia, synthetic drug

Toxicology results indicate a man pulled out of the Columbia creek in February died from hypothermia and a synthetic drug.

Stacy Huck, an investigator with the Boone County Medical Examiner’s office didn’t specify which drug was found in his system, but synthetic drugs are often marketed as K2 or Spice.

Police discovered the body of 38-year-old Levi Edward Monie-Turnbow around 6:00 p.m. on February 5.

At the time, Columbia police said they did not suspect foul play and didn’t find any signs of physical injury on his body.
