Hunter rescued after getting trapped by floodwaters

A hunter is safe after getting rescued from floodwaters in the Marion Bottoms Conservation Area on Friday morning.

According to the Jefferson City Fire Department, the hunter was returning to his vehicle early in the morning and found the Missouri River had risen. The current in the floodwaters made it impossible for him to get to his vehicle.

The Jefferson City Fire Department, working with the Regional West Fire Protection District, deployed a rescue boat to get to the stranded hunter. They were able to get him across the floodwaters to safety without incident.

Levels along the Missouri River have been higher this week due to recent rainfall.
