Creasy Springs closes for construction

MoDOT has closed Creasy Springs Road at the Business Loop for 15 days starting Thursday. The closure coincides with the opening the new roundabout in the area.

Crews were at closure area by 5 a.m. Thursday, arraigning barricades and getting ready for the road construction.

Crews also had the challenge of making sure drivers were not driving the wrong way around the roundabouts. Our ABC 17 News crews on scene saw about half a dozen drivers driving the wrong way around the cones.

The way the new traffic flow will work while Creasy Springs is closed is, drivers exiting west at the business loop and drivers heading west on the business loop with end up at a stop sign. The two will then merge into a lane, taking them over the old roundabout and to the new one. Once at the new roundabout, drivers flow to the right and can continue west on the Business Loop, enter on to I-70 or circle around to go eastbound on the business loop. MoDOT crews have restriped the area to indicate lanes.

The 15 day closure of Creasy Springs will be so MoDOT can tear up the old roundabout and create new lanes for the area.

The construction is all part of the $18 million I-70 bridge replacement project. The entire project is expected to be finished by October.
