Centralia man charged with child molestation, sodomy

Boone County Prosecutors charged Jonathan Robinson, 29, of Centralia, Thursday with child molestation and statutory sodomy for allegedly sexually assaulting a female minor over a two-year period.

Detective Tom O’Sullivan with the Boone County Sheriff’s Department said the investigation into Robinson’s reported activities began in late March.

O’Sullivan said detectives worked in conjunction with the Child Advocacy Center where forensic interviewers met and interviewed the victim.

“Based on that information, a number of leads were developed and we were able to obtain more information, and eventually enough probable cause to arrest the suspect,” he said.

According to the probable cause statement, the sexual abuse happened between 2014 and 2015 in two residences, one listed as Robinson’s place of living.

Robinson’s home is located less than 100 yards away from a Centralia school.

Robinson was arrested Wednesday morning at the Activity and Recreation Center in Columbia. He had a video arraignment hearing Thursday afternoon.

He is currently being held at the Boone County Jail on a $400,000 bond. His next court date is scheduled for May 17.
