Suspect pleads guilty to shooting another man in the back

A man could face up to 10 years in federal prison without parole for shooting another person in the back in Jefferson City.

Carlton Tyler pleaded guilty on Wednesday to being a felon with a weapon. Officials say he fired two shots after fighting with the victim, who recovered. It happened off Miller Street in May 2015.

Witnesses report the man went to the hospital with a non life-threatening gunshot wound to his back, before police made it to the scene. What the two men were fighting about is still unknown.

A sentencing date has not been set.
