NWS will not send survey team to Audrain County after confirmed tornado

UPDATE: The National Weather Service’s St. Louis Office has announced they will not send a survey team to Audrain County after Tuesday night’s tornado.

Officials with the NWS said they made the decision after reviewingphotographic and video evidence and after one of its storm spotters gave them a rather detailed account of the very minimal damage that occurred.

ORIGINAL STORY: Audrain County Emergency Management Director Steve Shaw has confirmed with ABC 17 that a tornado touched down near highways 19 and 54 near Laddonia Tuesday evening.

Shaw says there are no known injuries, but a barn was damaged.

Law enforcement officers were on the scene and, according to Shaw, The National Weather Service will decide in the morning on whether or not to send a crew.
