Adult, two juveniles detained after gunfire in Jefferson City

One adult has been arrested, and two juveniles detained, following an incident with a gun on East Elm Street in Jefferson City.

At around 1 p.m. Tuesday, a person called police to report seeing a man with a gun leaving an apartment in the 800 block of East Elm. The witness claims that man fired two gunshots into the air; no injuries or damage have been reported.

The witness told Police that the man with the gun ran back into his house. Police tried to gain access to the home, but residents would not let them in. Jefferson City Police got a warrant to search the home.

When officers arrived, the man with the gun allegedly tried to resist arrest, but was eventually detained. Two juveniles were also taken into custody and were taken to juvenile detention. The adult was taken to jail, and charges are pending.

No names have been released at this point.

This incident is about three blocks away from where a school bus was hit by gunfire earlier in April. One resident in the area has moved out due to the recent shootings in the area.
