Police officer in Dixon arrested for domestic assault

A police officer from Dixon has been arrested on suspicion of domestic assault. According to Pulaski County Sheriff Ron Long, John Meir turned himself in on Friday after a warrant for his arrest was issued.

Meir, 48, is accused of assaulting his wife during a domestic dispute in rural Pulaski County. Deputies say he threw a landscaping brick, meaning to smash a car window, but the brick hit his wife in the shoulder instead. Meir then allegedly kicked and punched the car. The wife got treatment for her injuries at an area hospital.

At the time of his arrest, there were four orders of protection issued against Meir. Meir is out of jail after posting $25,000 bond.
