Two charged in connection with School of the Osage bus vandalism

The Miller County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has charged two people in connection to this week’s vandalism of the School of the Osage bus fleet that forced the district to cancel classes Monday.

Shane Sabourin and Alexander Keith have each been charged with 18 counts of First Degree felony tampering. More specifically, the two are charged with damaging 18 school buses.

Both defendants are in custody at the Miller County jail on a $200,000 bond. They could face up to seven years in prison on the Class C felony charges.

Earlier this week, school officials told ABC 17 News 17 of the district’s 33 buses were vandalized. The vandalism included deflated tires, destroyed valve stems and smashed windows.

The damage caused school officials to cancel class on Monday, although they were able to resume the following day.

“I hope that the people are caught and held responsible for this. We take a lot of pride in having a safe environment, safe buses,” superintendent Dr. Brent Depee told ABC 17 News at the time. “We worked really hard and spent a lot of money on providing nice transportation and to have it destroyed so quickly.”
