Mexico crash causes brief outage for nearly 1,300 Ameren customers
Ameren confirms nearly 1,300 customers experienced a brief power outage Thursday after a crash in Mexico, Missouri.
Ameren said a car crashed into a utility pole in the 400 block of East Holt around midnight.
It said the crash caused 1,282 customers to briefly lose power for 2-3 seconds. It also caused one business to lose power for about an hour.
Ameren said when an outage like that happens, its system switches to a back up power supply. It said customers experienced the brief outage as the system switched over.
Ameren officials said they believe crews are working to replace the utility pole now.
ABC 17 news is still working to find out what caused the crash and if anyone was hurt.
