Karl Skala re-elected to Columbia’s Third Ward city council seat
FINAL RESULTS: Karl Skala has been re-elected to Columbia’s Third Ward city council seat.
Two Columbia city council seats will be decided by voters in Tuesday’s election.
The Third Ward has been represented by incumbent candidate Karl Skala for the past six years.
He’s running against Tom Leuther, a local pastor and Columbia native for the past 18 years.
Skala has called the northeast part of town his home for the past 35 years. He came to Columbia to pursue a master’s degree in psychology and has been here ever since.
He has served on a number of commissions, coalitions and task forces while also representing the Third Ward since 2007.
Leuther and his wife are pastors at the Family Worship Center just south of Columbia off Highway 63.
He serves on the Habitat for Humanity board of directors and Columbia Chamber of Commerce Government Affairs Committee.
Last week the Columbia Police Officers Association endorsed Leuther as the Third Ward city council candidate.
