Cole County crash leaves teen dead, one passenger hospitalized
An 18-year-old has died following a crash in Cole County.
The Highway Patrol says it happened on Henwick Lane near Morning Star Lane just before 4:00 p.m.on Monday.
According to the crash report, the car went off the roadway, flipped over and crashed into a utility pole.
The driver and passenger were thrown from the car.
18-year-old Mathias Bennett was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital where he later died.
The passenger, 17-year-old Kristian Estes was taken to University Hospital in Columbia in serious condition. ABC 17 News checked Tuesday morning, and Estes was in far condition.
Neither Estes or Bennett were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
