Suspect wielding an ax shot by deputy in Callaway Co. in serious condition

UPDATE, 4/4/16: The man accused of wielding an ax is reportedly in serious condition after he was shot by a Callaway County deputy.

UPDATE, 3/26/16:The man accused of refusing to put down an ax is reportedly in critical condition after he was shot by a deputy in Callaway County on March 24.

Authorities still aren’t releasing the suspect’s name, but court documents show a Ryan Dooley lives at the address on County Road 411 and is 21 years old – the same age as the suspect. ABC 17 News also checked and there is a patient by that name at University Hospital in critical condition.

ORIGINAL STORY, 3/24/16: The Callaway County sheriff’s office confirmed a suspect was shot by a deputy Thursday night, after refusing to drop an ax. ABC 17 News has learned deputies were first called just after 5 p.m. for a domestic fight on County Road 411 near Old Highway 54, less than 10 miles southwest of Fulton.

The suspect was flown to University Hospital in Columbia for serious injuries.

The Highway Patrol’s drug and crime division is now handling the shooting, because it involves a deputy.
