Classes to resume at School of the Osage on Tuesday
Administrators at School of the Osage School District say classes will resume Tuesday, after being canceled Monday because of vandalism targeting school buses.
School officials said 17 out of 33 of the district’s buses were vandalized. The vandalism included deflated tires, destroyed valve stems, and smashed windows.
Local vendors like Mark’s Mobile Glass, Big-O Tire, and Hi-Tech Repair donated materials to fix the buses, while other districts have offered some buses on loan for the time being.
The districts superintendent, Dr. Brent Depee said he’s never had to deal with this before. “I hope that the people are caught and held responsible for this. We take a lot of pride in having a safe environment, safe buses. We worked really hard and spent a lot of money on providing nice transportation and to have it destroyed so quickly.”
School of the Osage said it immediately filed a report with the Miller County Sheriff’s Office. It said detectives are now investigating the incident. ABC17 talked with a deputy that said they are pursuing some leads.
