Moberly Residents will soon vote on Prop S

The Moberly School District is urging it’s voters to say yes to Prop S.

The proposition would add an extra level of security by relocating the main offices of each school to a more secure location.

9.5 million, is what the Moberly School District is saying it needs to repair several different school locations in the area.

Repairs would include, but not limited to, replacing exterior brick, renovate/ construct secure entrances with card readers, complete roof repairs, upgrading electrical systems, and adding additional classrooms.

The superintendent from Moberly School Districts, Gena McClusky says that “right now you’re currently buzzed in but right now you’re being buzzed into a learning enviornment… people from the outside are able to come into but adding the extra feature would add another layer or barrier between the outside world and our students on the inside.”

McClusky also adds that the Prop would not require a tax increase, the money would come from a bond. “We managed the debt as responsibly as we can and by doing that we’ve cut off some years for that debt. That 20 year commitment that our voters made for us….by doing that you open up your debt ceiling… we can ask voters for a bond and we will pay interest on that, and as the debt comes off for the current issue, we will make payments.”

Voters will head to the polls on Tuesday April 5th.
