Osage County sheriff under investigation in Boone County
The Boone County Sheriff’s Department confirms it’s conducting an investigation involving Osage County Sheriff Michael Dixon for “activity” that happened earlier this month in the county.
The department would not give a specific date or location of the activity under investigation.
“We are conducting an investigation regarding Sheriff Dixon’s activities in Boone County early in March, we are not going to comment further on this investigation,” said Major Tom Reddin in an email. “Upon completion, reports will be sent to additional authorities for review of potential additional action.”
Dixon is currently serving two year’s probation after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor harassment charge in 2013. Dixon was accused of harassing a female Belle police officer.
The Department of Public Safety revoked his peace officer license in January 2015. A Cole County judge ruled to reinstate his license in October the same year.
Dixon’s attorney filed a motion Thursday to end his probation early. A hearing is scheduled in St. Louis County Court in Clayton on April 14. Dixon’s probation is scheduled to end in July 2016.
ABC 17 News left messages with Sheriff Dixon and his attorney Thursday for comment on the investigation and the motion to end his probation early, but have not heard back yet.
