Residents safe after Boone County house fire, cause not yet released

A family is safe after an overnight house fire in Boone County.

The Boone County Fire Protection District was called to the blaze at 22001 Dinwiddie School Road around 12:30 a.m.Wednesday morning.

Chief Rush tells ABC 17 the smoke alarm woke up the residents. They made it out of the home before crews arrived.

The Boone County Fire Department tells ABC 17 the fire started on the deck and then spread to the attic, where it was contained. While the house has suffered water and smoke damage, officials do not believe it is a total loss.

Officials have not yet released the cause of the fire. The dollar amount of damage has yet to be determined.
