Body found after early morning house fire in Maries County
Maries County Sheriff Chris Heitman confirmed human remains were recovered after a house fire was extinguished early Sunday morning.
The body has been identified as James Davis, 80, of Camdenton. Heitman said Davis used to own the home, but used it mostly for storage and did not live there.
The fire broke out at the home on Highway A around 3:30 a.m.
The Missouri State Fire Marshal is investigating the fire.
The cause of death is unknown, but an autopsy is scheduled for Monday. Heitman said at this time it does not appear there was any foul play.
The investigation is ongoing.
