Overnight weather means dangerous morning commute

Weather conditions overnight on Sunday, into Monday morning could mean a more dangerous commute for morning drivers.

A freeze warning has been issued to a majority of Mid Missouri residents till 9AM on Monday morning.

Drivers are also encouraged to allow extra time for their morning commute. ABC 17 looked into the amount of weather related crashes for 2015. Out of 2,295 crashes, 248 were rain related, 72 were snow related, 93 were freeze related, and over 575 were cloudy weather related.

With these colder conditions also means there is a higher probability for potholes to form. MoDOT says potholes are likely to form when water gets inside pavement cracks and expands before melting. MoDOT is encouraging drivers to report potholes as soon as possible.
