Shooting in Jefferson City sends one to hospital

One person was injured in a shooting on Monroe Street in Jefferson City late Thursday night.

Shortly after 11:30 p.m. police responded to the 800 block of Monroe for reports of gunfire. Witnesses told them a white car sped away from the area going south. Minutes later, police learned a similar car was at the emergency room entrance at Capital Regional Medical Center.

At the hospital, officers talked to the victim, whose injury is not life-threatening. Neither the victim, who was a passenger in the white car, nor the driver could give enough information to form a suspect description.
