Freeze warning gives farmers, gardeners something to worry about

A freeze warning is in effect for parts of Mid-Missouri for Thursday night, and that may cause concern for people trying to grow certain plants, crops, or fruit trees. The warning has been issued for the mid- to southern half of central Missouri, though northern counties will likely see freezing temperatures as well.

When temperatures drop below freezing, it’s a common practice to cover flowering plants or trees with sheets or tarps to protect them from frost. In some cases, smudge pots or heat lamps can be used as well.
