Downtown rezoning plans progress in Jefferson City
The Jefferson City Planning and Zoning Commission will soon move plans forward to rezone parts of downtown.
If passed, the proposed changes would affect areas of East Capitol Avenue and East High Street.
These would put into place new residential and commercial usage standards as well as building code standards.
“What we envision this would do is provide protection for the property owners in that area that have put large investments into their property in order to retain its historical appearance and fit into the neighborhood,” saidEric Barron, senior Jefferson City planner.
City officials plan to hold a neighborhood meeting to get input from the public. After that, the proposal will go before the city council for approval.
