Sen. Roy Blunt takes questions about Belgium terror attack
The investigation into the Brussels bombing is just beginning. Authorities have now released pictures of the suspected terrorists. ISIS is claiming responsibility for the deadly attacks.
Last week, U.S. Sen. Roy Blunt called for the Obama administration to offer a definitive plan to defeat ISIS. Blunt said it’s a “national security imperative” and a “moral obligation.”
At the Columbia Chamber of Commerce on Monday, Blunt discussed his call for action on ISIS. Blunt said the U.S. must take a leadership role.
“The are more attacks, more potential attacks from more directions than ever before and if the United States doesn’t stand strong, other countries begin to feel those attacks in ways that I think wouldn’t otherwise,” said Blunt.
Former homeland security coordinator for the state of Missouri, Paul Fennewald, questions the traditional methods of preventing terrorist attacks. Fennewald said people must be attentive because authorities can’t be everywhere.
“As you go about your daily business, be aware of what’s going on around you. And then if you see something suspicious – being able to report it,” said Fennewald.
