Gusty winds, low humidity Tuesday
Southwesterly winds will increase Tuesday ahead of a strong low pressure system which will be developing in the Central Plains. Sustained winds of 10 mph in the morning will increase to 20 mph in the afternoon, gusting as high as 40 mph in western Missouri. Temperatures will warm into the lower 70s due to the mild wind.
A Fire Weather Watch has been issued for areas near HWY 65 in western and southwestern Missouri starting at noon Tuesday and continuing until 7 PM.
Gusty winds and low relative humidity of 20-30 percent will combine to result in the potential for critical fire weather conditions. Wildland grass fires will especially have the potential to spread quickly. A Red Flag Warning is likely Tuesday and outdoor burning is discouraged.
