Search underway for escaped prisoner in Gasconade County after possible sighting

Authorities are currently searching for an escaped prisoner who was possibly spotted in Union, MO.

The Gasconade County Sheriff’s Department says Jason Mills escaped from custody at the Madison County Jail and was last seen Friday in Union, MO.

In an update Saturday night, the Gasconade County Sheriff’s Department says deputies were in the Mt. Sterling area with the Missouri State Highway Patrol for most of Saturday. They have since returned to the area and expanded patrols along Kings Highway and River Road.

Helicopters have also been searching the area.

The sheriff’s department says they have had several suspicious persons reported, all of whom have been stopped and thoroughly checked.

They are asking residents in the area to report any suspicious activity. They also advise residents of Gasconade County to secure homes and vehicles.
