Former teacher pleads guilty to craigslist ad seeking sex

ABC 17 News learned a mid-Missouri retired teacher from Sedalia is now facing time in federal prison for trying to have sex with an underage girl and her mother, who was actually an undercover detective.

Paul Cannon, 71, pleaded guilty on Tuesday, after posting a craigslist ad on January 18. The U.S. Attorney’s office said it was titled under “Grandpa looking for a couple with kids”, who was “would like to include their kids in sexual fun. White man, very discreet, very safe, retired teacher, and well endowed. Age and race are not an issue.”

Detectives at the Boone County Sheriff’s office responded to the listing while posing as a 14-year-old girl. Cannon was arrested after arranging to meet at a Columbia restaurant.

A sentencing date has not been set.
