Victim identified in fatal I-70 crash near Rocheport
The Missouri State Highway Patrol confirms one person is dead after a crash on the interstate Sunday evening.
The victim has been identified as Rickie Ekker, 37, from Salmon, Idaho.
The crash happened around 5:30 p.m. on I-70 near mile marker 116 near Rocheport.
Troopers said Ekker was driving a semi in the westbound lane when he traveled off the right side of the road and hit several trees.
Ekker was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash report says he was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
This crash marks the third fatality in Troop F’s district for the month of March. It’s the 11th fatal crash so far in 2016.
