Lockdown lifted at three schools following reports of a gun

Columbia Public Schools put three buildings on lockdown Friday morning, while police looked for a suspect with a gun in the area. Officers later confirmed they investigated a man who had just bought a BB gun at the mall. The report was cleared after no threats were found.

West Middle School and the Aslin Administration building by the ARC at Worley and Clinkscales, plus Russell Boulevard near Rollins and Stadium were all put on alert Friday. Parents and staff were notified. After hearing from police, schools moved in their students who were in trailers or outside for gym class. Classes returned to their normal schedules around 11:30 a.m.

Our Lady of Lourdes School near the mall was also placed on modified lockdown Friday.
