Heidi Cruz visits Columbia before Missouri primary

With the Missouri presidential primary on Tuesday, Presidential candidates are making their way through the state this weekend.

Republican candidate Senator Ted Cruz’s wife, Heidi Cruz, was in Columbia today campaigning for her husband at Dickey’s BBQ on Forum Boulevard.

Supporters ranged in age from seven years old to seniors. Heidi Cruz says she is confident for this upcoming primary, saying she believes that Missourians are doing a great job campaigning for Senator Cruz.

Heidi Cruz told ABC 17 that winning Missouri is very important to the Cruz campaign. “Our campaign is going to be in this race for the distance. We have the numbers to do so and we built a firm foundation in 2015.”

When asked what Cruz supporters would do if Donald Trump was the Republican nominee, some say that they would support Trump, but others were hesitant, and said they more than likely wouldn’t even vote.

Boone County’s Cruz campaign worker Jeffrey Bundrick says that the Cruz campaign has been mainly positive all throughout the state and in Boone County.

“We’re receiving an overwhelming positive response, and we’re seeing a lot of excited voters,” Bundrick said.

On Tuesday, Florida, Illinois, Missouri, North Carolina, and Ohio are set to vote. According to a poll conducted for the state of Missouri, GOP front runner Donald Trump has a narrow lead of five points compared to Senator Ted Cruz.

Senator Cruz is expected to be in Missouri, traveling to various cities on Saturday, including Kansas City, Springfield, and Ballwin.
