Spring-like weekend, rain chances

The average high temperature for this time of year is 54 degrees but this weekend we’ll reach well above that as daytime temperatures climb into the 60s thanks to southerly winds aloft which will send moisture and waves of low pressure into Missouri, creating showers and a few t-storms.

The first line of showers will move in from the south Friday night after 9 PM at the Lake of the Ozarks, spreading north and out of Mid-Missouri by 7 AM Saturday. Although clouds will linger Saturday, it looks dry for much of the day before the next wave moves in toward evening.

A few t-storms are possible by late afternoon Saturday as the next round of rain moves in. These are not expected to be severe but could produce locally heavy rain as they move through. This batch of rain moves north and out of the area by mid-morning Sunday, leaving us with some dry time through mid-afternoon before another chance of showers arrives late in the day.

Potential rainfall amounts of .75″ to an inch are forecast for most of Mid-Missouri with just over an inch possible closer to I-44.
