7 horses, 3 dogs killed in New Bloomfield barn fire

Firefighters fought to contain a barn fire in New Bloomfield Monday afternoon. It happened at Fairview Farms, a horse breeding and boarding business off County Road 367.

Units from 12 different departments responded, bringing over 50 emergency responders to the scene including troopers and sheriff’s deputies.

Three buildings are a total loss, including two barns, but crews managed to save the rest of the property. More than 50 horses were there when the fire started.

Fairview Farms announced on its Facebook page Monday evening that seven horses and three dogs perished in the fire. The fire also destroyed the farm’s training barn, colt barn and arena.

The cause remains undetermined as of Monday night. The state fire marshal was also called to investigate.

County Road 367 was closed to the public while firefighters battled the blaze. Crews cleared the scene just after 9 p.m.

The community has started a GoFundMe account to help the Brison family.
