Heavy Rain Possible Next Week

After a stretch of dry weather, a wet and unsettled weather pattern will make a strong comeback next week. Multiple disturbances are projected to move through the Mid-Missouri region, with the first one pushing its way into northwestern Missouri on Sunday. This will result in multiple chances of rain and thunderstorms throughout the entire work week and into next weekend.

As of now, the heaviest rain is expected to occur in the Tuesday evening to Wednesday morning time frame as a cold front dives into the Missouri then stalls out over the I-44 corridor Wednesday afternoon. This will result in heavy rainfall for areas to the southeast, where up to 4″ of rain are possible, with heavier amounts locally. With that in mind, flooding will be a concern.

Another round of rain is expected to move through Friday into Saturday as a low pressure systems make its trek from the Southern Plains into the Midwest, resulting in additional rainfall accumulations.

Models are showing that this system should clear out of the area by Sunday night, leaving us dry, at last, for Monday.
