Local campaign funding higher in 2016 than in years past

The Missouri Ethics Commission released it’s latest financial reports on the 2016 campaign for mayor, 3rd and 4th ward City council seats that are up for vote in the beginning of April 2016.

The reports show that so far, the candidates have raised a significantly higher amount this election year than in the years past. Some candidates raising up to four times the amount than other past candidates.

Mayoral Candidates:Former Boone County Assistant Prosecutor Skip Walther has raised about $50,000. Political consultant, Brian Treece has raised about $54,000, four thousand more than his competitor. Treece’s campaign had a huge single contribution, a ten thousand dollar donation from the Carpenter District council, a union based out of St. Louis.

3rd Ward Candidates:Tom Leuther, a pastor, has raised in the high fourteen thousands. Karl Skala, the current 3rd ward councilman, has raised nearly fifteen thousand. Both 3rd ward candidates received a majority of their money from residents in their ward.

4th Ward Candidates: Daryl Dudley, a former city councilman, raised around eight thousand- which is significantly lower than his competitor Ian Thomas. Thomas has nearly more than doubled Dudley’s campaign funds, at about twenty thousand dollars.
