One suspect caught, one on the loose after woman interrupts home burglary
ABC 17 News has learned one person has been arrested after a woman saw two people trying to break into her home in west Columbia.
It happened in the 1900 block of Ridgemont Drive just after 11:00 Monday morning, near Forum and Chapel Hill.
Police said a woman came home to find the back door open and two people running away. She was able to provide a suspect description and gave police the license plate number of the suspect vehicle.
On Tuesday officers confirmed they tracked down the accused driver, Dchaun Nebbitt, later that same day near his home in the north part of the city on Congo Drive, near Smiley and Rangeline.
The department said the second suspect is still on the loose, after going through the woman’s things and taking one item.
