Man tries to swallow bag of cocaine after leading deputies on chase

A St. Louis man is in the Boone County Jail after allegedly leading deputies on a chase.

Deputies arrested 27-year-old David Davis just after 2:00 Wednesday morning.

A deputy tried to pull him over on Brushwood Lake Road near Scott Boulevard, but Davis instead sped away.

Deputies said Davis reached speeds of about 70 miles an hour before crashing into a tree near Howard Orchard Road.

Davis then apparently tried to run from the deputy, but was quickly caught and arrested.

Deputies said while in custody, Davis tried to swallow a plastic bag of cocaine.

Davis is now facing possible charges for felony resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance, tampering with physical evidence, careless and imprudent driving and on a probation and parole violation.
