Deputy arrests Columbia man for drugs, active warrants

A Columbia man was arrested Monday evening.

A Boone County Sheriff’s deputy was driving near Broadway and Keene Street around 6 p.m. when her license plate scanner alerted her that a driver had an active arrest warrant.

The deputy stopped the driver, 25-year-old Ryan Mathews, in a traffic stop on St. Charles Road and Keene Street. She reportedly found two pounds of marijuana in the car.

Mathews also had active warrants. He was arrested on the possible charges of distribution of a controlled substance, a failure to appear warrant for unlawful possession of narcotics, and a failure to appear warrant for no insurance.
