Accumulating snow possible for parts of Mid-Missouri Wednesday

A strong low pressure system to our southwest is forecast to track northeast over the next two days, bringing rain and the possibility of accumulating snow to parts of Mid-Missouri through early Wednesday.

Rain will develop in southwest Mid-Missouri near the Lake of the Ozarks early Tuesday evening.

Showers will fill in for areas south of Highway 50 through the evening and overnight hours, and as temperatures dip into the low 30s near the freezing mark, a transition to snowfall is expected.

The gradient between snow and rain will be tight, with the better chance of snow east of Highway 54, especially southeast.

Winds will become gusty Tuesday night as well ahead of this system. A Wind Advisory will go into effect at 6PM for Maries, Phelps, and Pulaski counties until 12PM Wednesday for the potential of 35-40 mph wind gusts.

Snow will come to an end in Mid-Missouri by mid-morning through around the lunch hour Wednesday for our far eastern areas.

1/2″ to 1″ of total snowfall is expected east of Highway 54, with 1-2″ possible along I-44 through late Wednesday morning. Pockets of 2-3″ will be possible south of I-44, with the heaviest accumulation from this storm well to our east in central Illinois and northern Indiana.
