Jefferson City man sentenced for heroin distribution

A Jefferson City man was sentenced in federal court Monday for distributing heroin.

38-year-old Brian Boykin, who’s also known as Denormus Okain is sentenced to 8 years without parole.

Boykin pleaded guilty to 2 counts of heroin distribution and one count of possessing heroin with intent to distribute in July 2015.

Court documents said when Boykin was on parole in 2013, he sold heroin twice to a confidential police informant near Jefferson City Housing Authority property.

Boykin later admitted to selling heroin to about 10 people in Jefferson City, and estimated that he sold between 10 and 20 grams each week since October 2013.

The government filed a motion to sentence Boykin for longer than the maximum sentence since this case was his 6th felony prosecution. However, between a suspended imposition of sentence, multiple suspended execution of sentences, unsuccessful treatment programs, and failed drug courts, Boykin has served only a total of approximately five years and three months in state prison.
