Man arrested after leading officials on chase in Callaway County

A man was arrested Wednesday night after leading police and sheriff’s deputies on a chase throughout Callaway County.

Douglass L. Bowen, 41, lead Fulton police and Callaway County Sheriff’s deputies on a chase after police tried to stop his vehicle around 10 p.m. in the area of West 4th Street near Pioneer Drive. The chase ended in the 600 block of Bluff Street in Fulton.

Bowen and the passenger in the car, Raevena Gallup, were taken into custody. Gallup was released without charges.

Once in jail, authorities found controlled substances hidden on Bowen.

Fulton police say Bowen was arrested for assault on law enforcement, careless and imprudent driving, driving while intoxicated, driving while revoked, failure to stop, unlawful possession of a weapon and other traffic offense. He was later additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance inside a correctional facility, and with the intent to distribute.

Bowen was released to the Callaway County jail. He has no bond and the investigation is ongoing.
